Shift Your Spending
The first thing to know about the Ten Percent Shift is this is not a “buy local” campaign – it doesn’t tell you how to spend your money.
Instead, the Ten Percent Shift is about getting you to think about local options first – to be more thoughtful spenders. And in doing that, if you find a deal that works, then it’s great for you and great for your local economy.
There’s more than you think
Often times, when people think about local buying, they think food… or maybe wine and beer. But there’s a lot more to consider if you take a look: clothing, jewelry, furniture… the list goes on.
And then there are the services – say, the local auto body shop rather than the national chain, or the neighbourhood pizza place instead of the big multinational.
You’d be surprised at the products made and services offered in BC.
